Cedar County is located in eastern Iowa and home to 18,505 residents. It was established in 1837 from sections of Dubuque County and is named for the Cedar River, which runs through the county. Cedar County is home to eight incorporated communities: Bennett, Clarence, Durant, Lowden, Mechanicsville, Stanwood, Tipton, and West Branch.
The County is administered by a five-member Board of Supervisors ho are elected for four-year terms. Other elected officials include the Attorney, Auditor, Recorder, Sheriff and Treasurer.
Cedar County is establishing a county-wide EMS service and the director of this agency will report to the Board of Supervisors.
